Personality: Aven is quiet and reserved. She's not the type to get overly emotional. She's analytical, and she likes it when things are quiet.

Jewelry: Aven wears a silver band made out of Taengyrum on her left middle finger. It has a small crest etched inside the band. She wears a silver circlet when she's making public appearances at the castle. Other than that, she rarely wears jewelry.

Typical Attire: Aven wears a black shift shirt, with a grey leather vest, and black pants. She wears grey seal skin boots.

Undergarments: Standard white shift

Winter Attire: Aven doesn't get cold like a normal person. But the cold can cause her joints to stiffen up over time. So she wears heavy gloves and wrist and hand wraps. She wraps her feet and ankles and wears thick socks. Over her regular clothes she wears a thick fur tunic.

Combat Gear: Aven wears leather wrist guards, and will wear a leather breast plate to protect her. Although, she doesn't technically need the protection, she wears it as more of a status symbol. Most people don't know about her magic, and she tends to keep it under wraps. The armor helps with that.

Magic

Source: Aven knows basic healing magic, which is based on different ingredients. Aven also uses an ancient form of magic, that is specific to Tareis. There is a rare metal, called Taengyrum, only found in the mountains that surround Tareis. It's a soft, silver, metal, with a low melting point. For a long time it was used to paint china. It was used in medicine rituals. In time, people realized that if you consumed enough of the Taengyrum, you would be able to gain powers. However, it's extremely dangerous. 60% of people attempting the ritual die, and 70% of the people who survive the ritual end up with chronic pain, often ending up disabled, and no powers. Even if you end up with powers, you likely end up with chronic pain anyway. Aven, and her mother's guard Tyre, are the only known living people who have successfully completed the Taengyrum ritual.

Abilities: When there's enough Taengyrum in the body, the magic user can control the metal inside their body. They can use the metal to make their skin impenetrable. They're insensitive to extreme temperatures.

Side Effects: The magic user's body is cold (about 45° Fahrenheit, or 7° Celsius). They have a severely reduced appetite, and slowed digestion. Despite that, they actually need to eat more calories to keep up their energy. Aven has had chronic joint and bone pain ever since she completed the ritual. To help keep her calories up, she drinks hot broths and soups, and hot spiced wine. She can't tell that the food is hot, but the heat helps her digest the food. She has to eat a lot to keep up with her workouts.

Skill: Aven is quite skilled. Often times, if people survive the Taengyrum ritual, they can't control the metal in their body. Aven has complete control, which means she is capable of using the metal to protect her skin. She is also capable of retracting the metal, to allow for things like surgery.

Training: Aven trained with Tyre. He taught her how to control the Taengyrum, and how to deal with the side effects.

Dark Magic? Some people consider the Taengyrum ritual to be dark magic, due to the high risk of fatality. Some people believe in order to survive the ritual someone must have some demonic connections.

Combat

Ability: Aven is trained as a soldier. She's very skilled in combat.

Immunities: Aven is immune to blade weapons, they cannot cut her skin. Although, if she gets hit hard enough, she can get bruised, or even have her bones broken.

Resistances: Aven is resistant to heat and cold. She can't get frost bite, and it takes extreme heat to burn her.

Strengths: Aven is extremely strategic, and good at defense.

Weaknesses: Because of stiff joints and chronic pain, Aven doesn't move as fast as some fighters. She doesn't fight wearing heavy armor, which does help her compete with her opponents.

Health

Diet: Aven struggles to digest food, if she eats solid foods, they tend to sit in her stomach, and make her feel sick. Because of that she mainly eats soups and broths. She always makes sure that they're as hot as possible to help her digest them.

Exercise: Aven works out and trains daily. She's trained as a knight, although she's not been officially knighted.

Disabilities: Aven has chronic joint and bone pain. She works hard to ignore it. Sometimes, her joints (especially in her hands and wrists) get stiff, and she can't move them properly. When that happens she soaks her hands in hot, sometimes boiling water.

Medication: Aven uses a combination of tinctures and teas to keep her pain under control.

Backstory

Aven's father was Maluk Fayal king of Tareis, and her mother was Thistle Argyr, the head Magus. Maluk was sickly, so he spent a lot of time with Thistle. They spent a lot of time together, and eventually, Maluk fell for the healer. They got married, and had Aven.

Maluk's decision to marry a woman with common blood caused an uproar in the palace. Maluk's cousins contested Aven's right to the throne. Maluk's health only continued to decline. Aven was sent away, and Thistle began to get more and more desperate to help her husband.

Due to the king's declining health, and the contention around Aven's birth right, Thistle sent Aven to live out in the country. Thistle's personal guard Tyre, and several nannies accompanied Aven, raising and taking care of her.

Tyre taught Aven how fight, and about magic. Her nannies and tutors taught her how to read and etiquette. They travelled around the country, even riding on ships to visit ports in other countries.

When Aven was 21, her mother died in an accident caused by brewing an experimental healing potion. Aven returned home. Her father only lived a few years after the death of her mother. Aven had planned to take the throne after her father's death. But there was an endless line of cousins and extended family members who came out of the woodworks to challenge her right to succeed the throne.
